C&NW 4612, built in November 1979, was one of 2215 four-axle 2000 hp GP38-2 diesel-electric locomotives produced by EMD between 1972 and 1986. The Dash 2 was designed for increased traction and reduced emissions and is one of the most successful locomotives ever built. Most are still in service today.
