Historical Information: S-2 (1000hp) diesel-electric locomotives were produced by Alco and MLW between August 1940 and June 1950.

This Atlas N Scale S-2 Master Line Gold locomotive is ESU Sound equipped. Its many features include fine scale handrails, separately-applied coupler cut levers, air hoses, piping, etc., directional LED lighting (includes cab rear headlight), die-cast hood & chassis for improved pulling performance, dual-flywheels for maximum performance at all speeds, and factory-equipped with AccuMate® knuckle couplers.

DCC operation features support all DCC-programming modes, flexible mapping of function keys F0 to F28, a total of 4 DCC function outputs, and follows all NMRA DCC standards and recommended practices.

Sound functionality features include over 20 sound effects including engine start-up and shutdown, prime mover sounds through all eight notches, bell, air horn, air compressor, dynamic brakes and more. There are 16 user-selectable horns, 2 user-selectable bells, and 2 user-selectable synchronized brake squeals. Features also include manual and automatic notching modes with the ability to change modes ”on the fly” for true realism.
