Historical Information: S-2 (1000hp) diesel-electric locomotives were produced by Alco and MLW between August 1940 and June 1950.
Atlas N scale S-2 Master Series Gold is LokSound DCC/Sound equipped. Its many features also include fine scale handrails, separately-applied coupler cut levers, air hoses, piping, etc., directional LED lighting (includes cab rear headlight), die-cast hood & chassis for improved pulling performance, dual-flywheels for maximum performance at all speeds, and factory-equipped with AccuMate® knuckle couplers.
LokSound features include all DCC-programming modes, flexible mapping of function keys F0 to F28, and a total of 4 DCC function outputs. Sound functionality includes over 20 sound effects (including engine start-up and shutdown, prime mover sounds through all eight notches, bell, air horn, air compressor, dynamic brakes and more), 16 user-selectable horns, 2 user-selectable bells, and 2 user-selectable synchronized brake squeals. Also featured are manual and automatic notching modes with the ability to change modes on the fly for true realism.
