C&NW 4251, built for Carolina & North Western in March 1956 as road number 11, was one of 426 RS-11 1800 hp diesel road switcher locomotives produced by ALCO over a period of 8 years starting in early 1956. Sold to US and Mexican railroads, the turbocharged RS11 engine could be found in service on passenger and commuter lines as well as heavy-haul and local freight. Some were still in service in 2007.

ATLAS 8768 HO scale comes with a NMRA 8-pin plug and is DCC/decoder ready. Its many features include a five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds, realistic die-cast mainframe, golden-white LEDs, directional lighting, separately-applied wire grab irons, MU hoses and coupler cut bars, two painted crew members, and factory-equipped AccuMate® knuckle couplers.
