SAL 100, built in June 1960, was one of 426 RS-11 1800 hp diesel road switcher locomotives produced by ALCO over a period of 8 years starting in early 1956. Sold to US and Mexican railroads, the turbocharged RS11 engine could be found in service on passenger and commuter lines as well as heavy-haul and local freight. Some were still in service in 2007.
ATLAS 42740 n scale is DCC/decoder equipped. Its many features include full pilots, golden-white LEDs, separate handrails and side sill, and factory-equipped AccuMate® knuckle couplers.
