MILW 1602, built in March 1939 for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, was one of 177 high hood diesel switcher locomotives produced by ALCO between 1931 and 1940 in various horsepower ratings and body styles. The biggest change occurred in 1934 when they were redesigned to improve their boxy appearance. The digits after the HH designation indicated the horsepower. For example, the HH660 model came with 660 hp.
